So much to say about this song that I was unaware of despite it being the ring tone on my cellphone when I was a forest fire fighter. Smoke on The Water was released in 1972 and is actually based on a true event, the fire at the Montreux Casino in Switzerland. Guitarist, Richie Blackmore was one of the pioneers that made the guitar riffs harder and the solos more ambitious with Deep Purple. Aside from being in the Grammy Hall of Fame, Smoke on the water was also included in Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, it was #4 in Total Guitars Magazine's Greatest Guitar Riffs, #12 on Q Magazine's Greatest Guitar tracks and more. In 2017 the song was inducted in to the Grammy Hall of Fame. My apologies as I accidenttally ended the video just before the music stopped. 😎

Just wanted to take part in the Hard Days Night singing challenge by the Beatles. Don't think I've ever sang this song before, but it's definitely a classic! Lots of Beatles music in the house growing up, as my Mom was a big fan!

I really like Australian country singer, Keith Urban's music but find his songs difficult to sing. I especially like good banjo music in a good song and he definitely knows how to use one. This song was released in 2004 making it his 5th #1 single on the Billboard Hot Country charts and it stayed in the top spot for 4 weeks. This song, Days Go By, is also one with the most pop and rock crossover appeal. For all you fans of the seventies The Who needs no explanation. For the rest of you they were one of the biggest bands of their time. This song came out in 1975 and was in the top 10 for the UK Singles chart and as high as #1 on other charts. It was #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lyrics are heavy in sexual double entendres and was originally recorded for a Who television special where the band were to be surrounded by 100 topless women playing the accordian (aka squeezebox). This song represents exactly what the 80's was like. Every school dance and every bar played this song. In addition to great 80's music there was always a fight or two at some point. I think there is an SNL skit where they are all sitting in a bar rambling on about something, but they all stop and sing each chorus together every time it comes on. Classic!

RIP Toby Keith. Saw the news that he passed away today. This is one of his early hits, but his song catalog is full of great songs that I've been enjoying for 25+ years now. I'm sure I'll be back to sing another one of his classic country tunes in the near future.

Just heard the sad news that the world has lost country legend, Toby Keith, to stomach cancer at the age of 62. As a cancer survivor myself and a Toby Keith fan I wanted to do this song in his memory. He will be missed and will forever be immortal through the great music he has left the world. This song was released in 2001 and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart and held it for 5 weeks. It also peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100. Thank you Mr. Toby Keith for the music you have blessed us with and RIP. 😎

Can't really say that I'm a Jonas Brothers fan but I was a "sucker" for this song after I first heard it. The song was released in 2019 and It is the brothers biggest hit to date.It reached #1 on charts all over the world. So, we were challenged to have a little contest to sing Proud Mary before Thursday's AMA. We had a choice of doing the CCR or Ike & Tina Turner version. Well, for me, I considered a third version......the Skee Version. Did this for fun so have fun as I could only do one take and destroyed my vocal chords so no re-do's. I was originally going to make this video private, however, others seemed to have liked it so I will leave it public. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed it and wanted me to leave it up. 😎

For a simple song I had a tough time adjusting things so that you could hear the background comments. I also have never had to adjust the sync this much so my apologies if the vocals are too loud. I guess in a 10,000 song library you are going to find a few that pose some challenges. This song, released in 1993, peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is also ranked as one of the top 500 pop songs of all time. No surprise that it was in the top 10 on charts all over the world.
