My entry for the Song Contest. Looking for the "participation ribbon"-everyone wins. What genre is this song? It is stated as a Ballad, Traditional Pop, Soft Rock, blend of country/soul/folk/jazz with a R&B hook and it's also a Classic. It has made so many charts and is in multiple halls of fame and greatest of all time lists it blows my mind. Not an easy song to sing but love the classic rock music so I sang it anyway. I believe @Tappet2 was the first to sing it on Bee Mee.There are several versions of this song, going as far back as 1933 (maybe earlier) when it was used as a work song but it is most associated with Ram Jam.
